Standard specifies requirements for the development of terminological entries in the field of geographic information. It also includes guidelines for the cultural and linguistic adaptation of terminological entries based on the provisions of ISO 10241-2, Terminological entries in standards – Part 2: Adoption of standardized terminological entries.

This document applies the provisions of ISO 19135-1, Geographic information – Procedures for item registration – Part 1: Fundamentals to the registration of geospatial concepts. The standard was considered for adoption by the P4815 Identical Adoption of Geographic Information Standards and Technical Specifications Committee. The adoption of this standard maintains continuity with the ISO 19100 series and alignment with Australia for trans-Tasman consistency.

This standard is identical with and has been reproduced from ISO 19104:2016, Geographic information – Terminology.
