Care and maintenance of floor surfaces., Wooden flooring

This part of the code deals with the methods of providing polished finish to wooden flooring using (i) waxed finishes without prior sealing, (ii) treatment with seals and (iii) treatment with oils. Each method is described in terms of suitability, initial application and subsequent maintenance. Seals are described under the general headings of oleoresinous, seals, one-can plastics or two-can plastics, whilst the maintenance methods use sweeping powders, liquid or paste wax polishes or resin or wax emu lsions. Suitable flooring treatments for a variety of types of buildings are given. The code also contains a glossary of the terms used and an appendix on mechanical cleaning aids.
