Plywood - Marine

Specifies requirements for the manufacture, grading and finishing of plywood intended for marine use. It describes the basic marine plywood product. Particular applications may require additional processing, preservative treatment or surface finishing. Also specifies species of timber, veneer qualities, bond quality, joints, veneer construction, moisture content, dimensions and tolerances, finishing, formaldehyde emissions and branding. A series of performance requirements relating to species, and a procedure for evaluating and admitting new species are included. One bond type, Type A bond, is prescribed. Two face veneer grades A and O have been specified. Quality A veneer is to be specified where a high quality clear finish is required and Quality O where the marine plywood product is to be overlaid with fibreglass or similar coatings or overlays, or painted with a pigmented paint or varnish.
