Committee experts needed on wheelchairs, records management, optical fibre cabling, paper pulp and electromagnetic compatibility

Committee members are urgently needed for projects working with assistive technology, IT equipment, document management and testing pulp and paper, electromagnetic compatibility standards.

The scope for the ME-067 Assistive technology standards includes standardisation in the field of assistive products and related services for persons with disabilities. Join current representatives from Assistive technology suppliers New Zealand and Medifab.

What is being worked on:

·        Modification by amendment to AS/NZS ISO 16840.10:2023 Amd 1 - Wheelchair seating, Part 10: Resistance to ignition of postural support devices - Requirements and test method

·        Identical adoption to publish as AS/NZS ISO 16840.2:202X - Wheelchair seating, Part 2: Determination of physical and mechanical characteristics of seat cushions intended to manage tissue integrity

·        Identical adoption to publish as SA/SNZ TS ISO 16840.14:202X - Wheelchair seating, Part 14: Concepts related to managing external forces to maintain tissue integrity.

CT-001 Interconnection of Information Technology equipment committee will look at cabling system standards for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in all types of residential, commercial and industrial environments for the design, planning and installation, test procedures, automated infrastructure management systems and remote powering.

This includes standards for home and building electronic systems in residential and commercial environments to support interworking devices (IoT-related) and applications such as energy management, environmental control, lighting, and security.

Also included is standardisation of microprocessor systems, interfaces, protocols, architectures and associated interconnecting media for Information Technology equipment and networks to support embedded and distributed computing environments, storage systems and other input/output components; Standardisation of Insulation, sheath and jacket of Telecommunication cables and associated test methods; Standardisation of Optical fibre communication cabling systems safety.

Committee members can join with those from Ministry of Education and Telecommunication Users Association of New Zealand.

What is being worked on?

·        Modified international adoption to publish as AS/NZS 14763.3:202X - Information technology - Implementation and operation of customer premises cabling - Part 3: Testing of optical fibre cabling (MOD, ISO/IEC 14763-3:2024)

The IT-021 Records and Document Management Systems committee is focused on standardisation of practices, processes and functions relevant to Recordkeeping and Document Management (the management of documents, records and archives) to ensure authoritative and reliable information and evidence of business activity. You can join a committee with Archives New Zealand and the Association of Local Government Information Management

What is being worked on?

·        Modification by amendment to AS/NZS ISO 30301:2020 Amd 1 Information and documentation - Management systems for records – Requirements

PK-019 Methods of Test for Pulp and Paper is focused on standardisation in the field of testing of nano-cellulose, pulp, paper and paperboard, and paper and paperboard products. Join SCION and the NZ Paper Forum.

What is being worked on?

1.            Modification by amendment to AS/NZS 1301.001s:2002 Amd 1 Methods of test for pulp and paper, Method 001s: Basic density of pulpwood

2.            Modification by revision of AS/NZS 1301.434:2016 to publish as:

-              AS/NZS 1301.434.1 Methods of test for pulp and paper, Method 434: Determination of the flat crush resistance after laboratory fluting - Part 1: A-flute, and

-              AS/NZS 1301.434.2 Methods of test for pulp and paper, Method 434: Determination of the flat crush resistance after laboratory fluting - Part 2: B-flute

The TE-003 Electromagnetic Compatibility committee covers the standardisation in the field of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Current members include NZ Lighting Council and MBIE – RSM.

What is being worked on?

Several international modified adoptions are currently in the drafting phase.
