Specification for the overall internal height of lathe tool posts

Design considerations and dimensions, related to the horizontal level of the lathe axis, of the internal heights of lathe tool posts, suitable with a few exceptions which are noted, for the tool shanks specified in ISO/R 241 and BS 1296. Principally for tools subject to resharpening, with separate millmetre and inch series chosen so that both millimetre and inch tool posts heights will accept both millimetre and inch tool shanks. An alternative design for constant-height tools without the millimetre/i nch interchangeability. A second alternative design suitable for the 'gooseneck' tools used in the rear tool posts of certain lathes.
