AS/NZS 5000.2:2025
Electric cables – Polymeric insulated, Part 2: For working voltages up to and including 450/750 V
specifies requirements for the construction, dimensions and tests for single-core and up to 4-core and earth multicore polymeric insulated and oversheathed cables up to and including 16 mm2 conductor size intended for use fixed applications in power and lighting circuits in installations at working voltages up to and including 450/750 V AC and maximum DC potential differences between conductors up to 1 350 V.
The essential safety requirements in AS/NZS 3820 may be applicable to building cables covered by this document.
The major changes in this edition are as follows:
- Modification of Clause 10.2, and replacement of “Qualification Test Report” by the “Cable Qualification Report” with adjusted definition.
- Addition of DC voltage rating and appropriate tests.
- How to qualify cable for other applications (now covered by the CQR).
- Addition of tests in Table 5 for the durability and legibility of cable marking, and confirmation of marking on the cable and packaging.
- Coordination of insulation and sheath material (i.e. which sheath material can be used over which insulation material).
- Additional test requirement for green and yellow colours on Earths.
