Approval and test specification - Portable electrical control or conditioning devices

Specifies electrical safety requirements, to be read in conjunction with NZS/AS 3100. Applies to self-contained devices with a single means of connection to a low voltage supply, primarily intended to automatically regulate electrical outputs; and incorporating for example, energy regulators, speed controllers, timers, sensors and detectors, lighting dimmers, temperature sensitive devices, or others. Does not apply to: devices incorporated in an appliance; residual current devices (AS 3190);devices incorporating transformers (AS/NZS 3108); fused or indicator-lit plugs (AS 3112); indicator-lit cord extension sockets (AS/NZS 3120) or socket-outlet adaptors (AS/NZS 3122); portable outlet devices (AS/NZS 3105); nor to self-contained thermostats and energy regulators for independent mounting (NZS/AS 3161).
