Biometrics – Identity attributes verification services – Part 2: RESTful specification
This standard provides a standardised framework for accessing biometric identity assurance services remotely using RESTful APIs. In the New Zealand context, this standard supports the development of secure and interoperable digital identity systems that can be integrated across government agencies, financial institutions, and service providers. The standard defines a set of biometric and identity-related functions – such as biometric data classification, quality checks, and encounter management – that can be accessed through backend services. This standard was considered for adoption by the P4830 Identical Adoption of Digital Standards Committee which included experts from government, industry, academia, and the private sector, all focused on the responsible use of emerging technologies.
