Approval and test specification - Mains operated electronic and related equipment for household and similar general use

(±IEC 65:1985) Applies to the following equipment to be operated from mains power supply, directly or indirectly, for domestic and similar general indoor use: radio or television receivers; amplifiers; transducers; motor-driven equipment comprising one or more of the above or used only in combination with them, such as record-players and tape-recorders; other apparatus for use in combination with the foregoing, such as antenna amplifiers, power supplies, and cable-connected remote control devices; battery eliminators; electronic musical instruments, tone generators, tuners and the like. Specifies essential safety requirements for protection against electric shock, fire, excessive temperature, ionizing radiation, implosion, mechanical instability or hazardous moving parts, under normal or fault conditions. Does not deal with other properties of the equipment such as performance. Approved electrical safety Standard
