Approval and test specification - Beauty therapy equipment
Specifies basic electrical safety requirements, to be read in conjunction with NZS 6200. Applies to equipment designed for treatment of a person`s skin and body, for private use or by beauty therapists without professional medical training, and including those for high frequency heating, medium frequency or low frequency nerve and muscle stimulation, epilation, or using steam, suction, spray, lasers, magnetic effects, or ozone; and preparation equipment such as wax pots. Does not contain criteria to deal with performance or effectiveness of any particular therapy. Does not apply to: massage appliances (see NZS 6332/AS 3311); electromedical equipment (NZS/AS 3200 series); u.v. or i.r. radiation skin treatment appliances (NZS 6327/AS 3315); skin or hair care appliances (NZS 6323/AS 3304); nor to solarium equipment or flexible heating pads.
