Approval and test specification - Particular requirements for isolating transformers and safety isolating transformers

(±IEC 742:1983) Applies to stationary or portable, single-phase or polyphase, air-cooled transformers with electrically-separated windings to limit the hazards of accidental simultaneous contact with earth and live parts. Includes those with a rated supply voltage not exceeding 1000 V a.c. or 1412 V unsmoothed d.c., and rated frequency not exceeding 500 Hz; for a variety of uses including power loads up to 16 kVa, or for inclusion in other equipment which requires source isolation such as shaver supply units, or for supply of extra-low voltage equipment such as toys, bells, handlamps, etc. Specifies electrical safety requirements, but does not deal with performance. Does not apply to medical safety isolating transformers, nor to household battery chargers (see NZS 6329). Approved electrical safety Standard
