Parent Standard of a new series (see AS/NZS 3200 series) for wide range of medical electrical equipment. The series will outline conditions which must be met to secure approval for sale and use of medical electrical equipment used in hospitals and medical and dental practices. Only safety matters and closely allied conditions are covered. In some instances, however, these are more stringent than for most electrical appliances because of exacting additional requirements necessary to ensure safety of the patient, and of environmental conditions (e.g. high humidity, hazardous locations) in which some equipment may be used.
