Approval and test specification - Hand-held portable electric tools

To be read in conjunction with NZS/AS 3100. Applies to hand tools incorporating an electric motor, vibrator, solenoid or the like, intended to be supported or guided by the operator. Includes a wide range of portable tools, such as chain and circular saws, drills, hammers, hedge clippers, grass or weed trimmers (cord-line type), polishers, planers, sanders, screwdrivers, spray guns, and more. Specifies electrical safety, and some mechanical safety requirements (such as guarding or interlocking), and has an Appendix which defines test load conditions for many particular tools. Does not deal with performance. Does not apply to separate motors, nor to motor controls other than equipment which is built in to a tool.
