Standards New Zealand is seeking feedback on a new proposed item of work for ISO regarding human resource (HR) management. The US national member body of ISO (ANSI) has proposed this new field of work for ISO.
Although there are numerous polices and practices for managing organisational workforces, they are often inconsistent across national borders. The development of unified and generalised approaches to workforce management by a technical committee will define the performance expectations and responsibilities of all professional HR groups.
It is proposed that the HR management Standard will:
- address the strategic management of workers including talent acquisition, labour supply, employee management systems, and any related redundancy subjects
- address the measurement of HR practices and the implementation of a measurement system to document, assess, report, and validate continuous improvement in HR management
- provide a practical approach to improve the deployment of talent, reduce the costs of employees, and improve sustainability and the impact both operational efficiently and the carbon footprint of the organisation.
Standards New Zealand is consulting with key stakeholders in this area to determine New Zealand's response to this proposed work item.
