Four new flammable refrigerant fact sheets are available from the Climate Control Companies Association New Zealand (CCCANZ). The fact sheets aim to ensure the industry is well informed about the potential risks associated with the use of flammable refrigerants in New Zealand.
The fact sheets provide an overview of the key elements of safe operation for flammable refrigerant-based systems and an introduction to the pathways, plans, and processes towards a new cooling environment. Designers, installers, and service providers should access the AS/NZS 5149 Refrigerating systems and heat pumps – Safety and environment requirements series of standards to determine the precise requirements for an individual installation.
CCCANZ developed the fact sheets with BRANZ and the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating to:
- provide comprehensive information on the changing refrigeration environment
- inform construction professional, owners, and operations of the issues, roles, and responsibilities of those involved in the use and application of flammable refrigerants
- assist designers, installers, and operators of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems that incorporate flammable refrigerants.
