The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has produced a brochure that provides a concise overview of how ISO's technical programme, which has so far produced more than 17,400 international Standards, contributes to a sustainable world.
The brochure explains how ISO Standards contribute to the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, environmental, and social. The brochure, How ISO's technical programme and Standards contribute to a sustainable world, is downloadable in two parts:
- How ISO's technical programme and Standards contribute to a sustainable world: Part 1
- How ISO's technical programme and Standards contribute to a sustainable world: Part 2
Because sustainability is so important, ISO has established general principles to guide ISO committees that wish to develop a Standard dealing with sustainable development. The principles are outlined in the brochure.
