BRANZ engineer Graeme Beattie recognised

BRANZ Principal structural engineer Graeme Beattie was made a fellow of IPENZ at the Fellows and Achievers Dinner 2014.

The citation for his fellowship noted his contribution to the advancement of engineering knowledge and practice:

'We particularly recognise his leadership in developing guidance for the assessment, repair, and reinstatement of existing houses and the design of new houses following the Christchurch earthquakes.

'He also contributed to developing a range of national and international standards. He exercises judgement and has proven to be a skilled communicator able to transfer important knowledge to a range of shareholders.

'He has contributed widely within the profession, including 3 years as the President of the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineers.'

Beattie received a Standards New Zealand Meritorious Service Award last year for his contributions to structural engineering standards. Read more.
