Change to ‘11 or fewer’ category for endorsed appliances

A recent amendment to the Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations 2010 came into force on 31 July and modifies the limit on applications of the gas appliance endorsement regime.

Regulation 57 provides an alternative to the certification regime for gas appliances supplied in small quantities (sometimes referred to as ‘one-off’), or that form part of an imported gas installation.

Regulation 57(2)(a) has been modified so that it now applies to gas appliances of which there are 21 or fewer supplied in New Zealand per year. This change simplifies compliance and eases the transition for small New Zealand manufacturers from development to full production where product certification is required.
