Computer monitors MEPS and energy rating labels new Amendment published

Issue 53 – September 2013

AS/NZS 5815.2:2013 provides designers, manufacturers, importers, test laboratories, regulators, and users of computer monitors with the minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and energy rating label requirements for computer monitors. The standard's full title is Information technology equipment – Energy performance of computer monitors – Part 2: Minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and energy rating labels.

MEPS and labelling for computer monitors will be introduced on 1 October 2013 and AS/NZS 5815.2:2013 allows digital labels as an acceptable alternative to a physical label. However, in New Zealand, digital labels will not be allowed, so the standard includes a New Zealand-only Amendment A, published on 19 August 2013, which removes the option of displaying the energy rating label electronically on the computer monitor screen.
