The Electricity (Safety) Amendment Regulations 2013

The Electricity (Safety) Amendment Regulations 2013 have been published and come into force in two stages, the first on 31 December 2013, the second on 1 February 2014.

The majority of amendments are to introduce new regulations governing the electrical safety of mining, quarrying, and tunnelling. The majority of these new regulations are contained in a new Part 5A and a new Schedule 8. A number of mining related standards have been added to Schedules 2 and 4 and other standards in these Schedules have been updated to the latest editions.

Other changes reflect the establishment of WorkSafe New Zealand and recognition of the harmonised Australian/New Zealand Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS).
