Issue 27 – May 2011
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority's (EECA's) Autumn 2011 newsletter includes the following articles:
- Can I generate my own renewable energy? Many people contact EECA for advice on using small scale or 'micro' renewable energy generation for their home, business, or farm, and EECA has published a comprehensive guide. Download Power from the People: A guide to microgeneration (www.eeca.govt.nz/node/11568/?utm_campaign=eeca_ezine&utm_medium=email&utm_source=all).
- ENERGYWISE™ launches energy efficiency 'jigsaw'. Energy use is a part of nearly everything we do. Whether you are at home, at work, or on the road, there are changes you can make to save money. EECA ENERGYWISE™ is making it easier to find the opportunities with an energy efficiency jigsaw – a new interactive web tool that lets you put together all of the different pieces that add up to smart energy use. Visit the energy efficiency jigsaw on the ENERGYWISE™ website (http://www.energywise.govt.nz/energy-efficiency-jigsaw/?utm_campaign=eeca_ezine&utm_medium=email&utm_source=all).
- Studying the social acceptance of renewable energy projects. A report on the 'social acceptance' of renewable energy projects was carried out for EECA by the University of Otago's Centre for the Study of Agriculture, Food, and Environment. The report could help communities and developers come to better decisions and is being used for discussion within the industry to improve the understanding of people's perceptions of projects, and to improve consultation processes.
