The following Standards development activity is underway in the electrical, gas, and safety sectors, by development committees managed by Standards New Zealand and Standards Australia.
NZS 5262 Gas appliance safety (revision)
Scope: Review NZS 5262 and its support of regulatory requirements for gas appliances.
Stage: The committee meeting is scheduled for 9 December 2010.
AS/NZS 4645 Gas distribution networks (New Zealand amendment)
Scope: To update referenced Standards to support the gas regulatory environment.
Stage: Industry consultation to be completed by the end of January 2011.
Joint committee HT-021
AS/NZS 3003 Revision: Electrical installations – Patient areas of hospitals, medical and dental practices and dialyzing locations.
Status: Expected to be published in the 1st quarter of 2011.

Status: The public comment draft is in preparation.
Joint committee HE-003
AS/NZS 3551 Revision: Management programs for medical devices.
Status: Expected to be published in the 2nd quarter of 2011.
New Zealand committee P6115
NZS 6115 Amendment: Electrical Installations – Mobile Electro-medical Connectable Installations.
Status: The project has commenced and committee is currently being re-constituted.
AS/NZS 3760:2010 In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment
AS/NZS 3760 was recently published in October 2010. This edition has not yet been cited by the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, but will be included in the forthcoming amendment to schedule 2. This is expected in mid-2011.
Wiring rules frequency asked questions
A guide to the use of the Wiring rules has been produced by the EL-001 committee. The guide can be found at the website www.wiringrules.standards.org.au (www.wiringrules.standards.org.au/). While not all issues are covered here, it is worth a look before seeking answers from elsewhere.
AS/NZS 3010 Generating sets
This Standard is about to be revised and consideration of the current Standard and submissions already made is about to commence by a small team of the joint Standards development committee EL-001.
