Standards used for safety in the mining industry

Underground helmet and safety gear

A number of New Zealand and joint Australian/New Zealand standards have been incorporated by reference into new safety guides for the mining industry.

  • Guidance for a Hazard Management System for Mines
  • A guide to developing safety management systems for the extractives industry
  • Underground Mines Emergency Protocol
  • People Come First: promote a strong health and safety culture
  • Ventilation in Underground Mines and Tunnels Approved Code of Practice
