Civil defence emergency guidelines updated to include digital technology

Issue 52 – August 2013

The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management (MCDEM) has published a Director's Guideline for Public Information Management. The guideline includes lessons identified from the Christchurch earthquake response and allows for advancements in digital technology.

The guideline provides consistent advice for all local authorities, the 16 regional Civil Defence Emergency Management Groups, and MCDEM to use to plan for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
