Issue 48 – April 2013

Standards New Zealand is seeking feedback on a new work item proposal on Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. The national member body of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the United Kingdom, BSI, has proposed this project to ISO.

The proposed Standard will specify requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system to enable an organisation to control its OH&S risks and improve its OH&S performance. The Standard will be based on an existing document OHSAS 18001 Occupational health and safety management systems.

→ View information on OHSAS 18001 Occupational health and safety management systems (http://www.ohsas-18001-occupational-health-and-safety.com)

→ Standards New Zealand is consulting with key stakeholders in this area to determine New Zealand's response. To receive a copy of the proposal, for more information, or to submit comments including support for or opposition to the proposal, please email isoadmin@standards.co.nz.
