Forward focus for Standards New Zealand

Standards New Zealand transitioned into the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in March 2016, and has since been repositioning itself to successfully deliver on stakeholder and customer expectations.

A key aspect of this has been the development of the Standards New Zealand business strategy which outlines how Standards New Zealand will achieve its vision to be a world-leading and innovative national standards body. The key strategies we have identified are:

  • growing value for NZ
  • developing robust, affordable standards faster
  • facilitating up-to-date expert knowledge
  • enabling easier access to standards in a digital world
  • enabling value-added products and services.

Standards New Zealand has recently undertaken a review to ensure we have the right capability and capacity to deliver on our business strategy. This has resulted in some changes to our structure and to some key roles in the team. Most contacts will remain the same. However, if you are unsure of who you should be talking to please email Standards New Zealand Manager, Carmen Mak at

Thank you for your support to date – we look forward to continuing to work with you.
