Issue 36 – March 2012
The 2012 Business.govt.nz Flying Start Business Plan Competition helps Business.govt.nz visitors get their business ideas off the ground. The 2011 competition last year attracted over 600 entries from across the country.
If you have a business idea that could be realised with $30,000 of support funding, then start your business plan now as the competition starts in a few months.
Last year's winner Phil Hall won the competition in June, and in the last 6 months he's been putting his prize money to good use. Eyeing overseas markets for his revolutionary Safe Eyes safety goggles range, Phil spent part of his $30,000 prize on a trip to Hong Kong to meet potential global distributors, which led to contract negotiations. He also travelled to India to meet with another potential distributor, all thanks to a contact he made through winning the Flying Start Business Plan Competition.
