Issue 26 – April 2011
The Standard for Dairy herd testing, NZS 8100:2007, is being revised. Public comment has been reviewed by the committee and the new version of this Standard is expected to be published in mid-2011.
The revision of NZS 8100:
- has been undertaken in anticipation of the changes made to the Herd Testing Regulations
- will improve clarity for herd testing by providing clear requirements and will allow for flexibility of changing technologies
- will maintain and ensure the ongoing contribution of quality data to the dairy industry good database.
Facilitating herd performance recording will enable research and animal evaluation of the genetic productive potential of the national herd and its members, to benefit all New Zealand dairy farmers.
