The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) is proposing changes to the certification rules for MF‑AM Sound Broadcasting Services. The current certification rules are contained in the publication 'Spectrum Licence Certification Rules in Crown Management Rights (Public Information Brochure 39)'.The changes relate to rules for assessing night time interference and have the effect of providing additional protection to some licences.
A draft of the MED's proposed changes is available on the Radio Spectrum Management website (www.rsm.govt.nz/cms/policy-and-planning/current-projects/broadcasting/proposed-changes-for-am-broadcasting-certification-rules/). Comments on this draft document are requested by Friday 13 May, 2011.
