Standards New Zealand was originally established in 1932, following the Napier earthquake, to develop building standards. Involvement in the sector is still as strong as ever. By working closely with the Ministry of Building, Innovation and Employment, many Standards New Zealand documents are listed as Approved Solutions to the Building Code.
This amendment project is at an initial start-up stage. Committee constitution is expected to commence soon, but is dependent on completion of the preliminary draft that is being prepared by the regulator. A committee is being constituted to develop Amendment 1 to NZS 4211:2008. The purpose of the amendment is to align the wind zones in NZS 4211 with those found in NZS 3604:2011. Estimated publication date is May 2014.For more information please contact Jono East
Standards New Zealand is starting a project to amend NZS 3122:2009. Amendment 2 will include guidance on sampling and testing frequency to cover all Portland and blended cements supplied into the New Zealand market. Based on feedback from the sector, in addition to the NZS 3910 and NZS 3916 standards which were recently published, one further tailored standard will also be published: Conditions of contract for building and civil engineering construction: Fixed term (NZS 3917).
