Standards New Zealand has begun work to revise NZS 3640:2003 Chemical Preservation of Round and Sawn Timber. NZS 3640 was published in 2003 and sets out the requirements for preservative treatment to provide protection from decay and insects and also provides identification requirements.

As the first step towards the revision of NZS 3640, Standards New Zealand is calling for information on new treatments and for any amendments to existing treatments to be included in the revised standard, which will enable compliance with B2 Durability of the New Zealand Building Code. You can find more information at ‘Call for Information on Timber Treatments’.
