NZS 4211:2008 Specification for performance of windows is a standard which provides the classifications for the performance testing of windows and doors contained in AS 4420 for New Zealand and Australia. The standard is relevant to windows and doors for exterior use that may be manufactured from various materials or combinations of materials. These building components are designed and constructed to perform under certain environmental conditions, dependent upon their exposure to wind and expected use.
An amendment to NZS 4211:2008 has been published which extends the wind zone tables in the standard to include the ‘Extra high’ zone. NZS 4211:2008 A1 Specification for performance of windows Amendment 1 rectifies an inconsistency between wind zones referred to in NZS 3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings. The wind zones are now aligned and will assist manufacturers to design and construct windows and doors for houses intended to be built in very windy areas.
