Issue 46 – February 2013
Congratulations to Shane Chadwick, a Manawatu gasfitter, and Owen Crump, a Canterbury plumber, who were presented with Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board (PGDB) Merit of Excellence awards in September 2012. Shane and Owen were top performers in the PGDB's 2011 certifying gasfitting and certifying plumbing examinations.
Each year, the PGDB formally recognises the outstanding achievements of two individuals who score the highest results during the year in the PGDB's certifying examinations in plumbing and gasfitting. This award recognises the high achievement and underpins the PGDB's commitment to maintaining and recognising high standards within the industry to ensure the health and safety of all New Zealanders. With the recent introduction of certifying examinations in drainlaying, in the future the PGDB will be in a position to present a Merit of Excellence award to the top performing drainlayer.
Shane started his plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying apprenticeship with the New Zealand Army in 2003. He became registered as a plumber, gasfitter, and drainlayer in 2007. In 2011, he qualified to transition to certifying drainlaying registration and after passing his certifying examinations he became registered as a certifying plumber and certifying gasfitter in April 2012.
Owen began his plumbing apprenticeship in 2005. He became registered as a licensed plumber in 2010 and after passing his certifying examinations in 2011, he registered as a certifying plumber in April 2012.
Summarised from PGDB's info brief, December 2012.
