Issue 22 – November 2010
Architect Roger Hay passed away in September 2010 aged 76. Roger was a long-standing supporter of Standards and participated in the committees for NZS 3602 Timber and wood-based products for use in building and NZS 4512 Fire detection and alarm systems in buildings.
Roger will be missed by many for his work on revising the New Zealand Building Code and his campaigning to the Department of Building and Housing about the Building Act review.
Roger also championed the rights of the disabled. He suffered from bad emphysema, and with his partner Valerie disabled as well, he knew first-hand how hard it is to be disabled in the modern world.
