Gas installations - Part 1: General installations
Provides the mandatory requirements and means of compliance for the design, installation and commissioning of gas installations associated with the use or intended use of fuel gases such as natural gas, LP Gas, or biogas. Legislative changes in 1992 removed the responsibility for inspection and certification of gas installations from the gas suppliers and instituted a regime of gas certification by a person authorised under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006. Section 1 of this standard details the scope and general aspects of a gas installation that contribute to its safety. Section 2 outlines performance-based design and other essential requirements that must be met to ensure the safety of gas installations. Sections 3 to 6 specify the means of compliance for installations within the limitations of section 2. Gas installations must be undertaken only by persons authorised under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006.
