Our copyright policies 

All the documents we publish are protected by copyright. It is illegal to make copies of any Standards New Zealand documents, including those we publish jointly with Standards Australia, in whole or in part, without permission from us to make those copies. It doesn’t matter whether they were purchased in hard copy, electronic PDF, accessed from your Online Library subscription, or a network licence, all our formats are protected by copyright.

Infringing copyright has serious legal consequences. Under the Copyright Act 1994(external link) a person who infringes copyright may be liable to a fine of up to $150,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years.

As no two requests for permission to make copies are the same, we consider requests on a case-by-case basis, and may charge a fee for a copyright licence. ISO copyright policy

ISO copyright policyThe use of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) publications and national adoptions of ISO publications is subject to acceptance of ISO's terms of use and conditions of copyright, as set out below.

'All ISO publications and national adoptions thereof are protected by copyright. Therefore and unless otherwise specified, no part of an ISO publication or a national adoption thereof may be reproduced or utilized in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, including photocopying, microfilm, scanning, without permission in writing from the publisher'.

Reproduction may be subject to royalty payments or a licensing agreement.

ISO, ISO members, and distributors use watermarks to protect the copyright on ISO publications and national adoptions. Infringers will be prosecuted.
