16/05/2012

Draft Standard DZ 4229 is a limited revision of NZS 4229:1999 Concrete masonry buildings not requiring specific engineering design. NZS 4229 is being revised to ensure consistency with the AS/NZS 1170 Structural design actions series of Standards.

Changes in the draft include new earthquake zones that align with those in NZS 3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings, earthquake actions that have been revised and may now be calculated specifically for a site's subsoil classification, a new extra high wind zone, and updated requirements for retaining walls and cantilevered walls.

Public comment on this draft Standard, DZ 4229, closes on 4 July 2012. Free to download from our website: www.standards.co.nz (click the 'Public comment' tab).
