  • Full and partial demolition – new British code of practice: BS 6187:2011 Code of practice for full and partial demolition gives good practice recommendations for the demolition (both full and partial) of facilities, including buildings and structures.   • A risk-based approach to fire safety in residential buildings – updated British Standard: The newly revised BS 9991:2011 Fire safety in the design, management, and use of residential buildings – Code of practice gives guidance on how to achieve reasonable standards of fire safety for all people in and around dwellings, residential accommodation blocks, sheltered housing, and extra care housing. BS 9991 applies to the design of new buildings and to material alterations, extensions, and material change of use of an existing building. Read more. Order BS 9991:2011 (hard copy).

  • Emergency escape lighting of premises – revised British code of practice: The revised Standard BS 5266-1:2011 Emergency lighting – Part 1: Code of practice for the emergency escape lighting of premises gives recommendations and guidance the design, installation, and wiring of electrical emergency escape lighting systems.
