Standards 2009 Meritorious Service Awards

24 February 2010

Standards New Zealand will announce the winners of the '2009 Meritorious Service Awards' at Awards breakfasts to be held in Auckland (this week), Wellington (in March), and Christchurch (in March).

Awards information

Standards New Zealand's annual 'Meritorious Service Awards' recognise the exceptional hard work and dedication that individuals have contributed to high quality Standards that assist New Zealanders in their everyday lives. Awards winners are nominated by their peers and judged by a panel including representatives from the building, energy, consumer, and health sectors.

This year there are two new awards:

  • 'Committee of the Year' – Standards New Zealand staff nominate committees that have, in their view, exhibited exceptional service and commitment over and above that of other committees.
  • The Standards Council award for 'Outstanding Contribution to Standards and Standardisation'.

Awards breakfasts information

The Awards breakfasts celebrate past achievements and discuss future strategic issues. They are a valuable opportunity for Standards New Zealand to outline plans for the coming year and to recognise the contribution of stakeholders. Attendees include valued partners – committee members, funders, professional associations, and industry advisory groups.

This year we welcome the following guest speakers: Hon Maurice Williamson in Auckland, Hon Lianne Dalziel in Wellington, and Hon Pansy Wong in Christchurch.

About Standards New Zealand

Standards New Zealand is the operating arm of the Standards Council, and part of New Zealand's standards and conformance infrastructure. Standards New Zealand is an autonomous Crown entity responsible for managing the development and distribution of Standards across a range of sectors nationally.

Standards New Zealand is a self-funded, not-for-profit organisation, relying on revenue primarily from contracts with sponsors to develop Standards, and from sales of Standards publications. Our independence helps us facilitate a cross section of stakeholders' contributions to the development of Standards, and ensure that each Standard meets the needs of end users.
