Aged standards under review for speech equipment, flooring and furniture, waste water and electrical installations.
Aged joint standards are under review that we need user feedback on - help us shape the future of these standards.
Standards for upholstery safety can keep homes and whānau safe
Standards New Zealand and Standards Australia periodically review joint AS/NZS standards that are over a decade old to ensure they remain fit for purpose and industries’ needs. As part of this process, a number of standards have been proposed for review by Standards Australia that we now need your feedback on. If you use these standards, we need you to tell us:
- Should these be withdrawn, reconfirmed, or revised?
- Are they still fit for purpose?
- Do you use alternatives to meet your compliance needs?
Before any decision is made across both Australia and New Zealand, we factor in industry interest – even if you work in industries relevant to the topic of the standard but don’t use the standards, your input is helpful in forming an understanding of their place and value to industry.
Please get in touch if this is something you wish to discuss:

Reviewing aged standards is a healthy and sensible approach to ensuring standards remain fit for purpose and continue to bring value in guiding good practice.
