Faye Sumner

Faye Sumner CNZM is the ex Chief Executive Officer for the Medical Technology Association of New Zealand and has more than 40 years' experience in the healthcare sector. She was previously the New Zealand Manager for a multinational medical device company and previously served as the elected Chair of the Medical Technology Industry Board. She has been extensively involved in the proposed New Zealand therapeutic regulations which includes recognition of standards for conformity assessment of medical devices and was a member of the Standards New Zealand Electro-medical Coordination Committee.

Ms Sumner is also a Trustee of the University of Auckland, School of Medical & Health Sciences Foundation, Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Heart Foundation Board, is Chair of the Heart Health Trust, and a member of the New Zealand Universities’ MedTech Centre of Research Excellence Governing Board. Faye spent 11 years developing and implementing a Code of Business Ethics for Medical Devices across the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) region.

Faye has championed the medical technology industry both internationally and nationally and in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours, was appointed Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for her services to the medical technology sector.
