ISO has published an updated, improved edition of an international Standard providing safety specifications for electrically propelled road vehicles. The two-part ISO 6469 will help manufacturers to design fail-safe electrically propelled vehicles.
ISO 6469 provides manufacturers with a framework for the information they need to make available for safety personnel and emergency responders dealing with accidents involving such vehicles.

The car industry is undergoing major changes with new services and applications in areas such as safety and security, navigation, car maintenance, fleet management, mobile office, and entertainment. These changes represent significant opportunities… and some challenges. Standardisation is seen as a major issue.
For the fifth year running, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) will bring together the key players involved in the development of these Standards, and other key industry figures for the Fully Networked Car Workshop at the Geneva International Motor Show, 3 and 4 March 2010. Collaboration and coordination is – all parties agree – essential.

Transport of dangerous goods on land

Comments: Work is underway to update NZS 5433:2007 with the latest changes published by the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNRTDG), and changes introduced under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996. A committee of technical experts has been established to oversee and advise on the necessary changes. A draft of amendments is expected to be released for public comment in December/January.
