Newly revised liquefied petroleum gas Standard available

Safe storage and handling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is essential to ensure a safe industry.  A revised Standard for The storage and handling of LP Gas, AS/NZS 1596:2008, was published in August 2008, to update best practices and replace the 2002 version.

‘The Standard has been significantly updated to address new technologies, storage methods, and the management of emergencies,’ says committee member Peter Gilbert of the LPG Association of New Zealand.  ‘It provides those involved with storing and handling LPG with the relevant, user-friendly information they need to apply safe handling practices at all times.’

Major changes have been made to the minor storage and usage section, to make the quantities more realistic and address concerns from regulatory authorities and fire services.
