Seismic performance Standard revised to align with loadings Standard

DBH recently announced the referencing of the Loadings Standard, AS/NZS 1170, in the Compliance Document for New Zealand Building Code Clause B1, Structure.  The referencing will be effective from 1 December 2008.  DBH has also sponsored the revision of the Specification for seismic resistance of engineering systems in buildings, NZS 4219:1983, to align it with the loadings Standard AS/NZS 1170. 

The revised Standard, NZS 4219:2008, due to be published in November 2008, uses the loadings Standard’s philosophies of limit state design and performance-based engineering, and reflects the latest technology and materials.  It sets out requirements for how to design, install, and restrain engineering systems within buildings, to withstand earthquakes effects, helping to reduce life and injury hazards and protect property from damage.
