PDF format becomes ISO Standard
The Portable Document Format (PDF) is one of the most commonly used formats for electronic documents. It allows users to exchange and view electronic documents easily and reliably. PDF is now accessible as an ISO international Standard, and ISO is now in charge of publishing the specifications for the current version (1.7) and for updating and developing future versions.
ISO 32000.1 supplies information for software developers and users, and encourages the use of a common technology that cuts across systems and is designed for long-term survival.
International Information Technology governance working group update
Standards New Zealand is honoured to be hosting the next meeting of the ISO/IEC international Information Technology (IT) working group in Wellington from 3-5 December this year.
With representatives from all over the world, the group was established in 2008 to address gaps in governance guidelines across the whole life cycle of IT. The group’s effort was integral to the development of Corporate governance of information technology, ISO/IEC 38500:2008, which is applicable to organisations of all sizes, and provides a board-level framework for effective governance of IT.
‘It’s my great pleasure to welcome such an eclectic group of overseas governance experts to Wellington,’ says working group convener and internationally acclaimed IT governance and sustainability expert, Alison Holt. ‘I hope that New Zealand organisations will benefit from their visit, by attending the preceding conference and workshop sessions.’
