The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) has made available 56 MHz channels for licensing fixed services in the V, U, X and 38 GHz bands, as well as new 28 MHz channels in the V band. MED has also introduced an alternative 28 MHz channel plan in the U band.

The Ministry of Economic Development's (MED's) Energy Safety and Radio Spectrum Management teams have completed another successful joint prosecution. Digital Tronics Limited received a total of $12,500 in fines and costs in November 2011 for breaching the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and the Radiocommunications Regulations 2001.
