Meeting scheduled on regulatory cooperation and standardisation policies

Issue 19 – August 2010

On 20 November 2010 the 20th session of the Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP 6) will be held in Geneva, Switzerland. This session will mark 40 years of standardisation work in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

Two panel sessions are scheduled to be held during the meeting: risk management in regulatory systems and promoting regulatory cooperation in conformity assessment.

The risk management in regulatory systems panel session will include a report from the WP 6 group of experts, a methodology for assessing the use of risk management tools in regulatory systems, and a proposed survey to document actual use and outstanding needs for risk management tools. The next phases of work for the group of experts will be discussed and WP 6 will be asked to make a decision on the formal establishment of the group of experts.

The annual session will take place on 1, 2, and 3 November 2010. The draft provisional agenda is available at online at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe website.
