Working to improve quality of marine fuels

New editions of two ISO Standards on marine fuels have been developed to meet higher international requirements for air quality, ship safety, engine performance, and crew health.

The development of ISO 8217:2010 Petroleum products – Fuels (class F) – Specifications of marine fuels was driven by a request by ISO's partner, the International Maritime Organization, to have it ready by the 1 July 2010 implementation date of the revised Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).

DRAFT STANDARD FOR COMMENT

DR4552.2 Gas Appliances

Specifies minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) requirements for gas water heaters intended for use with natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and simulated natural gas (SNG) up to a nominal gas consumption of 50 MJ/h for storage types and 250 MJ/h for instantaneous types and which fall within the scope of AS 4552.
Public comment on this draft closes on 28 September 2010.
