New Zealand makes a submission on ISO's Strategic Plan for 2011-2015

Following the successful implementation of the International Organization for Standardizaton (ISO) Strategic Plan 2005 – 2010, ISO is currently developing their 2011 – 2015 Strategic Plan. ISO called for input from their members about their vision of the organisation in 2016 and requested specific advice regarding 10 key areas as follows.

  1. Technical scope
  2. Management system Standards
  3. Confidence in compliance Standards or products and services
  4. Partnerships
  5. Involvement by stakeholders
  6. Tools in support of public policies
  7. Developing countries.
  8. Education and communication
  9. Procedures, processes, and deliverables
  10. Support provided by the ISO Central Secretariat.

Standards New Zealand consulted with key stakeholders from July to August 2009 and has made a formal submission to ISO noting that:

As an overarching goal for 2015, New Zealand stakeholders would like to see ISO continue to strengthen its focus on being a genuinely international organisation, which seeks to support equal participation and balanced views from all corners of the globe. ISO should seek to use the best strategies and technologies to support the multiple dimensions of sustainability, and tame the tyranny of distance for all members.
