Standards New Zealand has been made aware of a document circulating on social media purporting to be the new edition of the AS/NZS 3000:2018 Electrical Installations (known as the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules). This document is not authorised by Standards New Zealand.

Electricians are warned not to use the unauthorised document under any circumstances because it is not safe to do so.

Electrical standards are developed with the aim of keeping communities safe. Standards New Zealand does not know whether the unauthorised document has been tampered with or whether it has been developed to cause harm.

Standards New Zealand takes this breach very seriously and will do everything it can to protect the community and its intellectually property rights, including taking legal action against those involved in this breach.

Standards New Zealand is in the pre-publication stage of a new edition of AS/NZS 3000 and expects to issue a publication later this month.

Standards Australia has also issued advice not to use the unauthorised copy.
